5 Ways to Reset Your Body Today

Regardless of how healthy you eat and how much exercise you get in, there are ways we need to reset mentally and emotionally to help optimize our health. It can be really frustrating if you feel sluggish and tired even if you’re following a healthy lifestyle. To break it down for you, sometimes our body’s natural systems get off balance, whether it’s from stress, too much caffeine, or diet irregularities (Holiday Feast's). The good news is, there are simple changes you can make to reset your body and get it back to 100%, so you can feel amazing.

Like I said, even if you’re living a “healthy” lifestyle, outside factors can get our systems out of whack. I’m sharing 5 simple things you can do today to help your body reset and get back to feeling amazing. Try these 5 tips to get your body back on track:

#1 Drink enough water!

Dehydration can sneak up on you in the most inconspicuous ways- like winter! Even when we don’t sweat as much as in the summer, our bodies still need water. I recommend drinking at least a liter of filtered water when you wake up then continuing to drink water throughout the day.

#2 Boost your anti-inflammatory foods.

Trying a gluten-free or dairy-free meal plan may help your digestion and calm inflammation. Of course, this doesn’t need to be a lifelong diet for you if you don’t need it, but it’s worth a try to see if it helps ease your stomach troubles.

#3 Watch your Coffee intake.

Not everyone is sensitive to coffee, but some of you can only take so much coffee or else it leads to jitters, poor sleep, and a roller coaster in energy. Coffee has some great health benefits too, but just like anything, when consumed too much may cause an increase in stress hormones and poor sleep. If you need a pick me up in the afternoon, try a cup of herbal tea, a small piece of chocolate, or even a brisk walk outside.

#4 De-stress whenever possible.

This could be taking a walk, yoga, meditation, listening to music, cooking, chatting with your loved ones, being in nature, journaling, etc. Resetting isn’t just about the physical, it’s mental/emotional and so important we take time to prioritize what makes us joyful and happy at the end of the day!

#5 Optimize!

Add in greens wherever you can! I like to use green powders sometimes when I’m on the go or when I’m feeling a little run down- like these days when working extra hours- the nutrients you’ll get from whole food green powders are great boosters in addition to already eating a diet rich in whole foods. Remember to have fun, be grateful and you'll be on your way to living your most optimal life!
